AC TRANSIT JOINS OUR SISTER BAY AREA TRANSIT AGENCIES TO LAUNCH THE ALL-NEW CONSOLIDATED VACCINE WEBSITE

AC TRANSIT JOINS OUR SISTER BAY AREA TRANSIT AGENCIES TO LAUNCH THE ALL-NEW CONSOLIDATED VACCINE WEBSITE

March 11,2021

Transit agencies throughout the nine Bay Area counties continue our safety commitments to employees and passengers

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) is teaming resources with our sister Bay Area transit agencies to ensure that the entire Bay Area can use transit to get to COVID-19 vaccination sites. By pooling knowledge and technology, our collective transit agencies created a one-stop website that makes learning where and how to get the COVID-19 vaccine easy.

The new healthytransitplan.com joins the existing Riding Together: Bay Area Healthy Transit Plan, which launched in summer 2020. Through the new website, riders not only have a full list of vaccination sites accessible by public transit, but also the special rider promotions currently serving each site.

Transit-friendly vaccination sites will help provide equitable access, especially for vulnerable Bay Area communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

“AC Transit’s frontline employees have bravely faced this pandemic for a year so that the neediest East Bay riders continue to have a transportation lifeline,” said Board President Elsa Ortiz. “And their resilience knows no boundaries. Literally, overnight, our bus operators, mechanics, and service employees became the backbone of two new vaccine shuttles to the Coliseum mass vaccination site. Now our communities have two fare-free lifelines to the lifesaving vaccine.”

Larger Bay Area transit systems with parking lots and plazas have offered locations to county officials, health care providers, and community groups to host vaccination sites and free COVID-19 testing. As the vaccine distribution continues, more transit-friendly locations are anticipated. The website will be updated with new information as more locations are added.

Appointments are required at most vaccine locations. To plan your trip aboard AC Transit’s vaccine shuttles, please visit actransit.org.
